Emailremainsthe most popular form of communications in business – but its role as a valuable and productive business tool is hampered by cyberthreats and the fact that 53% of those emails are likely to be spam 1, according to Kaspersky Lab data. To help organizations strengthen their protection against unwanted and unsolicited messages, phishing emails and malware, Kaspersky Lab has launched its new solution for business users, Kaspersky Secure Mail Gateway.
The corporate email system is one of the primary channels for bringing malware into the network, with successful attacks resulting in slow and inefficient email systems, unwanted downtime as computers and networks need to be swept clean of malware, and significant risk to corporate IP and data protection.
A recent study shows that more than two-thirds of cyber-espionage activity feature phishing, with those employees using unsecured email systems particularly vulnerable. The 2015 Verizon report found that 23% of people will open a phishing email and 11% will click on the malicious link – with half doing so within an hour of receiving the email. With so little time to act, businesses need a robust and automated security solution that will prevent these emails from entering the organization in the first place.
The new Kaspersky Secure Mail Gateway is a virtual appliance, specifically designed to mitigate the risk of increasingly complex, sophisticated and devious malicious emails and spam to ensure that business communications can continue uninterrupted and corporate confidentiality, IP and integrity can remain intact.
The solution can be easily deployed as a single virtual package and configured using Quick Start Wizard or through an intuitive web interface. After deployment, users have a virtual machine with the CentOS 6.5 operating system, Kaspersky Security 8 for Linux Mail Server and MTA Postfix, all preinstalled and preconfigured. This removes the need for the system administrator to have specific Linux skills for managing the solution.
Artem Serebrov, Head of Web&Messaging, Kaspersky Lab, says: “Businesses still rely on email to stay connected. The number of messages is only increasing, and so is the number of fraudulent and spam emails flowing through the ever-growing network of mail servers. With Kaspersky Secure Mail Gateway, which installs in just three clicks, companies are able to keep the information security of their physical and virtual mail servers up to the growing needs of their business.”
Kaspersky Secure Mail Gateway offers business users a best-in-class antivirus engine, which scans for the presence of viruses in email traffic. This is combined with a malicious URL filter – updated in real-time from the cloud - which blocks emails that carry links to infected sites or malicious files. The solution’s powerful antispam engine detects mass-marketing emails so that employees aren’t plagued with junk mail, and blocks emails that contain links to phishing websites.
The protection it offers is unrivalled. Kaspersky Secure Mail Gateway based on technology, that achieved a 99.97% spam catch rate in independent tests2; a higher score than any of its competitor products.
Kaspersky Secure Mail Gateway receives regular updates from the Kaspersky Security Network on the very latest unknown or suspicious email threats, ensuring constant protection at all times.
